Showcasing apprenticeship success stories across the country

For the fourth year running, we had the pleasure of working with the Education and Skills Funding Agency to promote the National Apprenticeship Awards 2018.

Nine regional awards ceremonies held throughout September celebrated dedicated employers who had gone the extra mile to support their apprentices, passionate advocates who go above and beyond to champion apprenticeships and talented individuals who could give Lord Sugar a run for his money!

This year’s Awards saw the launch of two exciting new categories: The Rising Star Award, which recognises bright, shining apprentices who show great promise in their chosen profession, and the Recruitment Excellence Award, which celebrates employers who have taken an innovative approach when attracting new apprentices.

Other categories include Higher or Degree Apprentice of the Year, Intermediate Apprentice of the Year, Apprenticeship Champion of the Year and SME Employer of the Year and Macro Employer of the Year.

To create an organic buzz around the new categories and the upcoming Awards ceremonies, we developed a digital toolkit for regional finalists, encouraging them to shout about their successes on social media with quote cards, GIFs and user-generated videos – all using the awards hashtag – #AppAwards18.

To promote the winners themselves, we worked with regional news outlets across the country to secure 77 pieces of regional coverage – beating last years record – showcasing the winners’ outstanding achievements and the Awards themselves.

Some of our favourite pieces of coverage include:

With apprenticeships becoming a popular and credible alternative to university, the Awards shine a light on the importance of investing in apprenticeship programmes to develop young talent, as well as a valuable opportunity to develop its current employees.

They also recognise apprentices and apprenticeship champions from a multitude of backgrounds and celebrate both large and small companies from a range of sectors – including aerospace, healthcare, government and e-commerce. Quite the mix!

We are delighted to have had the opportunity to work with such gifted apprentices, and the employers and champions who support them throughout their apprenticeship journeys! We are very proud of all involved, and we wish them the best of luck at the National Final, which will be held in London on the 28th November.
